A situation, object or environment that has little meaning to one person can terrify another, to the degree s/he might complicate his or her life to avoid that situation, object or environment. Hypnosis can enable you to safely face those fears and enjoy a more manageable lifestyle. It is necessary to establish a difference between fears that are "irrational" and debilitating vs. those that are realistic. Often it might appropriate for you to be afraid in certain situations. For example, it is a healthy fear to avoid standing at the the edge of the Grand Canyon, even if you overcome an irrational fear of heights. Concerns about these issues can be explored with your hypnotist.
Trance-Formative Services uses a 3-4 session hypnosis program to address overwhelming fears, and as follows:
ü Session 1 (1/2 hour free consultation) - Intake assessment and introduction to hypnotherapy. Your information will be gathered, your goals will be determined, you will be introduced to the hypnotic process, and your commitment to change will be discussed. You will have the opportunity to ask questions to allow you to feel comfortable with the hypnotic process.
ü Session 2 – Transferring learning: The part of you that is unafraid will learn something new about your fear and transfer that new knowledge to the part of you that used to be afraid, enabling mastery over the previously feared context/situation.
ü Session 3 (optional) – Alternatives: You will determine the reason underlying your fear, and search for behavioral alternatives to protect yourself in similar future situations.
ü Session 4 – Strengthening courage – A self-affirming hypnotic session will be audio-recorded and you will receive a CD created for you to take home to support your progress.
